Online Examination System is a web application Institutes enter on the site the questions they want in the exam. These questions are displayed as a test to the students. The answers enter by the students are then evaluated and their score is calculated and saved. This result can be accessed by the institutes to determine the passes students or to evaluate their performance.Questions are posted not by the site, but admin of the site.The site has an administrator who keeps an eye on the overall functioning of the system. The system entitled “Online Exams System” is application software,developed by using Asp.Net technology and sql server database.

Project abstract
Introduction
Online Examination System forms the lifeline of the Educational Institutes to the functioning of the Examination. It is very essential for an Institute to handle the Examinations and their results. It is very useful for an Institute to test its students continuously for their mutual development. This system is helpful for conducting ( MC) Multiple Choice Examinations which can be conducted regularly as well as for surprise tests and provides immediate results saving the precious timeof faculties to check the papers and prepare mark sheets.
Objective
Online Examination is a web based project .It assesses students by taking online objective tests. These tests are customizable.Admin can set time for examination. This project will be helpful fo educational institutes to conduct test and have automated checking of answers based on the response by the student.
Scope
This project will be very useful for any educational institute where regular evaluation of students’ is required. It can also be useful for anyone who requires feedback based on objective type responses.
Features of the system
- It will reduce the hectic job of assessing the answers given by the candidates.
- System will check responses by the student will be checked automatically and immediately.
- Proposed system can generate various reports almost instantly when and where required.
- Being an integrated Online Examination System it will reduce paper work.
- This Web Application provides facility to conduct online examination world wide.
- It saves time as it allows number of students to give the exam at a time and displays the results as the test gets over, so no need to wait for the result.
- It is automatically generated by the server.Administrator has a privilege to create, modify and delete the test papers and its particular questions.
- User can register, login and give the test with his specific id, and can see the results as well.
Limitions of the project
- The new system has been designed to meet almost all of the user requirements but it too has some limitations some of which can be enhancements .
- Supports only Multiple choice and no Theory
- This system supports only multiple choice questions and these can be used only for the logic testing of the student whereas paper based tests can provide a overall result of the users knowledge for that topic. It supports only two values True and False. If the selected answer is true the user gets marks, If not loses.
- No Image Support
- This system has no image support at present and so images and diagrams cannot be included in the exam which would make it very difficult to ask certain questions in certain subjects.Providing diagrams externally is at present the only feasible choice available.
